Obituary for Karl Kramer Jr.

Karl Kramer, Jr., 94, passed away on January 21, 2019 at his home, Knob Hill Farms.
Karl was born in Spencer County on April 22, 1924 to Karl A. and Gertrude (Whitehouse) Kramer.
He was a 1942 graduate of Chrisney High School.
Karl was a lifelong farmer engaged in diversified production of meat animals and grain. He was an agricultural conservationist at heart and implemented many soil and water conservation practices to preserve the soil and maintain production. His farm was the host for Spencer Greener Pasture Day in 1974. Karl received an Appreciation Award for dedicated services as Supervisor of the Spencer County Soil and Water Conservation District from 1975-1980. Karl was a charter member of the National Farm Organization (NFO) in Spencer County starting in 1960. He loved traveling with his wife, and spent many retirement days creating works of art from discarded hardware and machinery parts, and refurbishing tools and equipment to make them useful again. Karl was an avid collector of antique tools, and was an antique tractor club member. He built barrel train wagons for his grandkids and for other children to enjoy at local community events. At an early age on the farm, he found Indian artifacts in the tilled fields. This was the start of a lifelong collection.
Karl was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Emma Lou (Fueger) and sister, Gloria Ann Fischer.
He is survived by a son, Larry A. Kramer (Sharon) of Bennet, NE; daughters Linda Hesson (Bill) of Rockport and Susan J. Goldman (Floyd Keith) of Richland; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Mattingley of Hatfield; six grandchildren, Kimberlee Hesson of Rockport, Kristine Hesson of Evansville, Brian Kramer (Jenny) of Lincoln, NE, Anne (Michael) Guldemond of Omaha, NE, Scott A. Goldman and Tara Compton (Jeff) of Richland; eleven great grandchildren, Galen, Lydia, Finnegan, and Eli Kramer, Zachary Ferguson, Nicholas Bingle, Kaleigh and Tiphani Goldman, Hanna, Holton, and Houston Compton; great-great grandchildren Ramona Emma June Ferguson and Nolan Ray Frields.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chrisney, IN. Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to Spencer County 4-H or Spencer County Hospice.
